Honda RCB Exhibition: 50 Years of Legend
1976 – 2026: 50 years of the Honda RCB
Fifty years ago, Honda launched one of the most audacious racing programmes in the history of motorcycle endurance. On 16 March 1976, Mr. Kawashima, Honda's top executive, officially entrusted Grand Prix veteran Mishihiko Aïka with the mission of boosting sales in Europe through endurance racing.
Seventeen young engineers were brought together to build everything from scratch: the mechanics, the technical partners, the rider lineup. In just a matter of weeks, Aïka san criss-crossed Europe, visiting Paris and England to gather the pieces of the puzzle: SMAC rims, Cibié headlights, Lockheed calipers, Dunlop tyres designed for over 100 horsepower. The first laps were turned as early as 29 March, and the first race followed in April at Zandvoort. The rest is history.
On 16 and 17 May 2026, the Sunday Ride Classic celebrates this anniversary.
In partnership with Team RCB (Racing Caillou Bédier), Le Castellet hosts an exceptional event dedicated to the RCB: an exclusive exhibition, an on-track parade and the presence of legendary figures from the programme, including riders Jean-Claude Chemarin, Roger Ruiz, Jacques Luc and Daniel Rouge, as well as former Honda France members Jean-Jacques Catillon, Pierre Loth and Gil Michel.
